3 Content Prompts for Creatives

Talking about yourself online doesn’t have to feel awkward

A lot of creative folks I work with say the same thing: “I never know what to say about myself.” You want to connect, but you don’t want to overshare or feel self-promotional.

These three simple prompts are here to help you share your story in a way that’s honest—and still feels like you.

Prompt 1: “The part of my process people never see is…”

This helps you pull back the curtain without needing to be too vulnerable. It invites curiosity and gives your audience a deeper appreciation for what you do.

Try it like this:
“The part of my process people never see is how long I sit with an idea before I create anything. It might look quick—but it’s always thoughtful.”

Prompt 2: “I used to believe ___, but here’s what I know now.”

This one builds trust. Sharing your growth journey shows your experience without sounding like a pitch.

Try it like this:
“I used to believe I had to be on every platform to stay relevant. Now I know that showing up where I actually enjoy being makes all the difference.”

Prompt 3: “If you’re thinking about [your offer], here’s what I’d want you to know…”

Think of this as a low-pressure invitation. It positions you as helpful, not pushy.

Try it like this:
“If you’re thinking about hiring help with content, here’s what I’d want you to know: it’s not about being ‘perfect’—it’s about being consistent in a way that feels sustainable.”

Save these for when your brain feels blank

You don’t have to overthink every caption. Start with a real thought, a story, or a moment—that’s more than enough.
